Shirke was probably annoyed at being reprimanded by a cop younger than him. The dirty result- his Senior Inspector Vilas Joshi, was shot dead by him after a bitter argument over his unscheduled leave and the subsequent attendance entry made by his reporting officer.
The night inspector had marked Shirke absent twice in the station diary after his night patrol upon not finding him at his deputed spot, once at 2.30 am and once at 6.30 am.
Two years ago, on Saturday night of 2nd May 2015, Shirke had arrived at the police station in half uniform and shot Joshi. Then, perhaps after realizing what he had done, Shirke also killed himself with his service weapon. The incident took place inside the police station premises itself.
Inquiries have indicated that Shirke had a temper problem and a tendency to object to the tasks given to him.
Doctors who attempted to resuscitate Joshi for three hours at the Lilavati Hospital on Saturday night said that his bullet injuries were so deep that his major arteries and veins had been punctured at various points.
The mental condition and behavior of people who work long hours and have a disturbing schedule need to be studied and steps need to be taken to ease their stress.
Yes! Work-related stress is hugely expensive. Tackling stress and psychosocial risks can be viewed as too costly, but the reality is that it costs more to ignore them.
Have you ever noticed breathing patterns change according to the feelings you are having? When you are angry, which rhythm does your breath assume? A series of shallow and short breaths.
What about when you are relaxed and joyful? You take long, deep breaths. The obvious conclusion is that the breath is influenced by how we feel, but can our negative emotions be transformed by using the breath? Certainly!!!

Wisdom is knowing when to express it and when to suppress it.
